Eligibility Check

Use this guide to understand whether your flight disruption may qualify under EU passenger rights before launching the wizard.

01

When EU Rules Usually Apply

In general, EC261 protection may apply for flights departing from the EU, and certain flights arriving in the EU when operated by an EU carrier.

  • Flights departing from the EU (EU and non-EU airlines)
  • Flights arriving in the EU from outside when operated by EU airlines
  • Journey must not already be compensated under equivalent non-EU law
02

Common Disruption Types

Eligibility often depends on cancellation, long delay at final arrival, denied boarding, or missed connections caused by covered disruption events.

  • Cancellation without proper rerouting protections
  • Arrival delay frequently assessed around 3 hours or more
  • Denied boarding when passenger complied with travel rules
03

Compensation Bands (Typical)

Compensation is distance and circumstances dependent. Typical EC261 compensation ranges from EUR 250 to EUR 600.

  • EUR 250 for many short-haul routes up to 1,500 km
  • EUR 400 for medium-haul and certain intra-EU long routes
  • EUR 600 for many long-haul routes above 3,500 km
